Want to spend less time in traffic? Want to see improvements to your roads? Think there should be more options for traveling in western Travis County?
Then get in the driver’s seat and let your voice be heard.
The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and City of Lakeway invite all the communities of south Lake Travis to a CAMPO Mobile Meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek.
The Mobile Meeting is one of several ways the public can help planners identify potential future transportation projects in CAMPO’s 2040 Regional Transportation Plan.
Attendees are encouraged to generate ideas, provide feedback and get information, project materials, fact sheets and maps.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the community to have a conversation with CAMPO planners regarding our transportation and infrastructure needs,” Lakeway Mayor Dave DeOme said. “It is my personal belief that western Travis County has traffic congestion of a regional nature. Many drivers pass through our communities on their way somewhere else. That effect on our mobility has gone unrecognized in the past.”
CAMPO is the agency that approves the use of federal transportation funds in this region that includes 1.8 million people in Travis, Hays, Williamson, Burnet, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. It will soon begin the evaluation process to determine which projects are included in the plan for this region that is projected to have 4.1 million people in 2040.
The CAMPO 2040 Plan Vision is to develop a comprehensive multimodal regional transportation system that safely and efficiently addresses mobility needs over time, is economically viable, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable, supports regional quality of life and promotes travel options.
“An important part of this planning effort is working with you, the community, to gather input and share information throughout the planning process,” said Bryce Bencivengo, CAMPO community outreach coordinator. “Public involvement on each activity will occur prior to board action.”
